What to expect

Digital Playhouse is contributing this event as part of eInvoicing Week 2022, running from 15 to 21 August 2022. The aim is to raise small business awareness of this beneficial new way to send and receive invoices, as well as help them get started. 

Mark Stockwell, ATO, will run through an Introduction to eInvoicing where he’ll touch on the following topics:

  • What is eInvoicing?
  • What is the ATOs role in terms of eInvoicing?
  • What are the benefits of eInvoicing?
  • A brief update on eInvoicing in the Australian landscape
  • How to get started with eInvoicing

We'll discuss the real-world applications coming soon to our offices:

  • Using software with eInvoicing
  • Small business eInvoicing adoption experiences

Electra Frost (Digital Playhouse) and Ray Wang (LUCA Plus), will give an overview of blockchain-based eInvoicing systems:

  • Introduction to blockchain
  • Triple-entry accounting: the third entry on the blockchain is the source of truth 
  • How blockchain improves the integrity of e-Invoicing by making it auditable and tamper-resistant
  • Australian e-invoicing software that incorporates blockchain and integrates with Xero
  • How programmable smart contracts can implement eInvoicing on a larger scale

About the Presenters:

Mark Stockwell, Director eInvoicing, Australian Taxation Office

Mark is leading the government’s eInvoicing initiative, resulting in several billion dollars of productivity benefits to the Australian economy. Mark collaborated with New Zealand in 2019 to form the Trans-Tasman eInvoicing initiative and adopt the international Peppol standard to support the initiative. He recently returned to this role after spending 12 managing the ATO relationship with Digital Service providers and leading ATO’s IT portfolio and governance operations. Mark was previously a program manager for the government’s SuperStream initiative, delivering significant benefits to Employers and Superannuation funds.

Electra Frost, Accountant and Blockchain Educator, Digital Playhouse

Electra Frost is a qualified accountant and tax agent in public practice for more than 20 years, specialising in SMEs and the digital economy. As co-founder of Digital Playhouse, a social enterprise and registered charity with blockchain innovation and learning hubs in regional Qld and Victoria, she hosts 'Accountants On-Chain' learning events for accountants diving into crypto and web3. In 2022-23, Electra is completing an Advanced Diploma of Applied Blockchain. Finding new ways to contribute to the improvement of the profession, she's researching and experimenting with blockchain-based solutions for more rewarding, collaborative and secure automation of accountancy services.

Ray Wang, Co-Founder/CEO at LUCA Plus 

Ray is a qualified and highly experienced accountant who is passionate about making life easier and better for small to medium sized businesses by creating and implementing innovative tech solutions for them. Ray and his team at LUCA Plus have been trying to combine the blockchain technology, e-invoicing and smart digital payment solution to ease cash flow issues for SMBs and give more time back to business owners to improve their lives.
