What to expect
Aimed primarily at small business accountants, advisers and bookkeepers, this 6-week exploration will focus on understanding what their clients are doing in the cryptocurrency and digital assets space.
This is not crypto tax education. This is an experiential tour with a crypto-experienced accountant, intended to make complex topics visible and easier to relate to familiar concepts.
Participants will gain the confidence to discuss crypto activities with their clients and to provide appropriate guidance.

o How big is Bitcoin and Crypto?
o Describing Blockchain and the Bitcoin Standard in simple terms
o Introduction to Cryptocurrencies and Other Digital Assets
o Basics of Decentralised Finance (DeFi)
o Basics of Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (DAO’s) and the Token Economy
o Brief Overview of Regulatory and Legal Frameworks
o Data Privacy and Security
o Common scams and red flags, and what to avoid
o Real case scenarios of blockchain adoption in business
o Accounting for digital assets in Xero
o Strategies for improving clients’ digital financial literacy
Experiential learning and demonstrations:
o Purchasing cryptocurrencies on an exchange
o Storing and transferring your crypto with digital wallets
o Paying for goods and services with crypto
o Earning interest, staking and yield farming with crypto
o Accessing the world of Web3 and De-Fi with browser extensions
o Handling data-feeds from crypto wallets in Xero accounting software
Entry Requirements
o Qualified accountants, business advisors and bookkeepers practicing in Australia

o Virtual streaming (interactive webinar)

o Duration: 6 weeks, up to 2 hours per week
